NEET Exam Overview
NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. NEET-UG is the National Level entrance exam for admissions in MBBS and BDS courses in India after class 12. NEET is mandatory for a candidate pursuing medical studies under the MBBS and BDS programs. Admission to esteemed colleges like the AIIMS and JIPMER is based on marks scored in the NEET
Courses Offered through NEET
MBBS is a combination of two professional degrees that are Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. It is a 5 year course which comprises basic, pre and para-clinical subjects.
BDS is a professional degree of 5 years of study including 1 year of Internship. It is one of the leading courses after 12th biology. BDS Colleges in India offer seats for this course through NEET exam.
Total No of Seats in Medical Colleges in INDIA as in year 2022
- There are a total of 91,927 MBBS seats in 612 colleges out of which 322 are Government colleges and 290 are private colleges.
- There are around 26,949 BDS seats in 313 colleges.
- A total of 48,012 government seats and 43,915 seats are in private MBBS colleges
- There are 15 AIIMS & 12 JIPMER Medical colleges in India.

- The minimum age limit is 17 years as of December 31, of the year of admission or students belonging to all the categories.
